About the event
"Big data" is defined by Scottish Enterprise as "structured and unstructured sets of information whose size is beyond the ability of commonly used software tools to capture, manage, and process in an effective timescale".
As the concept of Big Data and the field of data analytics develops there is a huge potential for the UK's public sector to harness the nation’s burgeoning data science industry in order to better the society we live in. Big Data has the potential to transform development and accelerate social progress around the world. However there are many issues surrounding understanding, ownership, privacy, capacity, measurement and more that need further dialogue and discussion.
This conference will explore the potential of data analytics within the public sector and will discuss how harnessing the power of big data can positively impact society.
